Cloud engineer. Cook. Grappler. Cat person. Born curious, still learning.
I'm Diego — a Cloud Engineer based in Sydney with over eight years in enterprise IT infrastructure. I work at Ingram Micro, where I help businesses across Australia and New Zealand design, migrate, and optimise their Microsoft cloud environments.
My technical background covers Windows Server, networking, virtualisation, identity, and Azure — and I hold the AZ-104 Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate certification, with more on the way. I care about building systems that are reliable, secure, and built to scale.
But the reason I'm good at my job has less to do with certifications and more to do with a mindset I've cultivated over years of cooking, training, and tinkering: patience, precision, and a genuine love for understanding how things work.
"The best systems — in technology, in cooking, in life — are the ones you understand deeply enough to trust."
Outside of work, I spend my time on the BJJ mat, by the Kamado Joe, and generally trying to get better at the things I care about. I'm based in Sydney, originally from Brazil, and have spent my career building technical expertise in the Microsoft ecosystem. Fernando the cat tolerates all of it.

BJJ teaches this clearly: talent is outpaced by consistency. The same applies to engineering, cooking, and any craft worth pursuing. The best results come from showing up repeatedly, not from occasional bursts of effort.
I don't like using things I don't understand. That drives me to learn infrastructure from first principles, to read the docs, to experiment in the lab. Understanding the why makes you better at the what.
Whether I'm smoking a brisket for 12 hours or designing a network architecture, the quality is in the details most people skip. Good enough is rarely good enough for me — and that's something I'm proud of.

Fernando has an extraordinary ability to require attention at precisely the worst possible moment — mid-deployment, during a Teams call, three minutes into a focused work session. He's opinionated, dramatic, and completely indispensable.
Living with a creature that is simultaneously very intelligent and profoundly indifferent to your schedule is, honestly, great training for cloud support work.
I'm always open to interesting conversations — cloud architecture, career questions, BBQ science.
